Description

This two-hour virtual program provides construction professionals with a practical overview of key employment law and human resources issues affecting today’s workplace.

The first half of the program focuses on essential employment law and HR practices that supervisors, managers, and other construction professionals regularly encounter. Participants will review how to appropriately handle employee concerns, leave and accommodation requests, performance issues, and disciplinary actions. The discussion will also highlight policies, documentation practices, and management strategies that can help organizations reduce risk and maintain a consistent approach to employee relations.

The second half of the program focuses on workplace requirements related to pregnant and nursing employees, including the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) and the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act (PUMP Act). Participants will explore employer responsibilities related to reasonable accommodations, break time, and appropriate workplace facilities, as well as considerations surrounding pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions.
