Description

Join us for our Annual Chapter Meeting featuring speakers Stephen E. Sandherr & Corbin Van Arsdale!

Stephen E. Sandherr is CEO of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Scranton and a law degree from the Catholic University of America.

He joined AGC in 1984. After a brief two-year break to practice law with a private firm in Washington, D.C., he rejoined AGC in 1991. He was promoted to his current position as CEO in 1997. Steve’s role is to maintain relations with AGC’s 92 chapters nationwide, coordinate government relations activities, and enhance AGC’s involvement with business coalitions. In recognizing his tireless advocacy for the industry through his leadership role at AGC, the American Society of Association Executives has cited AGC as one of nine “remarkable” associations. The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper, listed Steve as a top lobbyist for the last seven years, representing the only commercial construction industry association on its Top Lobbyists of 2009- 2016 lists. He is a trustee of the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Corbin Van Arsdale is a fifth-generation Texan who attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned degrees in finance (BBA) and law (JD)—and lettered in baseball. Corbin previously served as a Texas state legislator, mayor, and council member.

While in the Texas Legislature, Corbin served on the following House committees: Calendars, Appropriations, State Affairs, Insurance, Judiciary, Urban Affairs, Texas Legislative Council, and the Joint Select Committee on the Texas Youth Commission. During his time in local elected office, Corbin chaired the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) and served on the boards of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA).

Corbin currently serves on the following boards in his role with AGC-Texas Building Branch: Texas Civil Justice League, Texas Business Roundtable, and the Texas Comptroller’s Business Advisory Group.
